De La Soul is an influential hip-hop group that originated in the late 1980s. The trio, consisting of members Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos), David Jude Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove), and Vincent Mason (Maseo), is known for its unique sound and innovative approach to hip-hop. They are often credited with helping to shape the genre's landscape with their eclectic style, use of sampling, and positive messaging.
The Grind Date is the sixth studio album by De La Soul, released in 2004. The album marked a significant return for the group after a hiatus since their previous album in 2001. The Grind Date showcases De La Soul's signature blend of clever lyrics, innovative production, and a mix of playful and introspective themes.
